The Zitelli & Brodland Fellowships for Mohs Surgery and Procedural Dermatology
Our practice is honored to offer fellowship training to board certified dermatologists in Mohs Sugery and reconstructive surgery. This is the same training as that offered at major universities and teaching hospitals. Our fellowship program offered here in Mohs Surgery and Procedural Dermatology is approved by the American College of Mohs Surgery as well as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) of the American Medical Association.
The following is a list of our fellows, the research projects completed during their fellowship year, and a brief synopsis of their career. Click on their pictures for more information about them.

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Merritt joined UNC School of Medicine as Assistant Professor.
Christine Weinberger, M.D. Fellowship - 2009-2010 Medical School - Dartmouth Medical School Currently - Fletcher Allen Health Care, University of Vermont
Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Weinberger joined Fletcher Allen Health Care and the University of Vermont College of Medicine as Assistant Professor.
Joy Kunishige, M.D. Fellowship - 2008-2009 Medical School - University of Florida Currently - Northwest Dermatology
Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Kunishige continues to work as an associate with our practice. On March 8, 2010 she will join Northwest Dermatology, a suburb of Chicago, as director of Surgery.
Patrick Sniezek, M.D. Fellowship - 2008-2009 Medical School - University of Tennessee Currently - Colorado Springs Dermatology Clinic
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Sniezek joined The Colorado Springs Dermatology Clinic.
Larisa Ravitskiy, M.D. Fellowship - 2007-2008 Medical School - New York Univ School of Medicine Currently - Private practice, Gahanna, Ohio
Research Project: Cost Comparison of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Conventional Excision Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Ravitskiy joined Ohio State University as Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Director of Dermatologic and Mohs Surgery. Since then Dr. Ravitskiy has started her own private practice in Gahanna, Oh. She continues to work as an associate with our practice.
Tracy B. Bramlette, M.D. Fellowship - 2007-2008 Medical School - University of Connecticut Currently - San Francisco, CA Research Project: The Microanatomy and Clinical Outcomes of the Paramedian Forehead Flap
Upon completing her fellowship, Dr. Bramlette joined a general dermatology private practice group in San Francisco, CA.
Michael E. Murphy, M.D. Fellowship - 2006-2007 Medical School - Ohio State College of Medicine Currently - Private practice - Greenwood, IN
Research Project: Errors in the Interpretation of Mohs Histopathology Sections over a One Year Fellowship
Dr.
Murphy, (former active duty Army) On the dermatology residency staff at
Brooke Army Medical Center, completed his tour in Iraq. Upon completing
his fellowship, Dr. Murphy continued to work as an associate with our
group while building his private practice in Greenwood, IN.
James R. DeBloom, II, M.D. Fellowship - 2005-2006 Medical School - Jefferson Medical College Currently - Private Practice - Greenville, SC
Research Project: The Invasive Growth Potential of Residual Melanoma and Melanoma-in-situ
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. De'Bloom worked locum-tenens in Lancaster, PA and as an associate with our group while building his private practice in Greenville, SC. He opened in October, 2006.
Karen J. Johnson, M.D. Fellowship - 2004-2005 Medical School - University of Colorado Currently - Private Practice - Denver, CO
Research project: The Meaning of Microscopic Metastases of Melanoma.
Upon
completing her fellowship, Dr. Johnson worked a year of locum-tenens in
Lancaster, PA and as an associate with our group while building her
private practice in Denver, Co.
Ali Hendi, M.D. Fellowship - 2003-2004 Medical School - University of Miami Currently - Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL
Reasearch Projects: Mohs surgery for Extrammamory Pagets Disease. Melanocyte Density in Normal Sun-exposed Skin.
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Hendi jointed the Mayo Clinic in
Jacksonville, Fl. He is currently in private practice in Chevy Chase,
MD. He opened his practice in October, 2008.
Greg Bricca, M.D. Fellowship - 2002-2003 Medical School - University of California, Davis Currently - Private Practice, Roseville, CA
Research project: Immunostaining Melanoma Frozen Sections: the 1 Hour protocol.
Upon
completing his fellowship with us, he joined Dr. Fazio's practice in
Sacramento, CA. He has since went into private practice in Roseville, CA
Ryan P. O'Quinn, M.D. Fellowship - 2001-2002 Medical School - Vanderbilt University Currently - Private Practice, San Antonio, TX
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. O'Quinn started his own private practice in San Antonio, TX.
David B. Pharis, M.D. Fellowship - 2000-2001 Medical School - Emory Universiy Currently - Private Practice, Atlanta, GA
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Pharis joined former fellow Mark Baucom in private practice in Atlanta, GA.
John D. Boyer, M.D. Fellowship - 1999-2000 Medical School - Uniformed Services University of The Health Sciences Currently - Private Practice, Honolulu, HI
Research project: Local Control of Primary Merkel Cell Carcinoma Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Boyer returned to the faculty at the
Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD to complete his Naval obligations. He
then started a private practive in Honolulu, HI.
Cary L. Dunn, M.D. Fellowship - 1998-1999 Medical School - Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Currently - Private Practice, Sarasota, FL
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Dunn established a private practice in Sarasota, FL.
Michael J. Huether, M.D. Fellowship - 1997-1998 Medical School - Yale University Currently - Private Practice, Tucson, AZ
Research Projects: Mohs Surgery for Spindle Cell Tumors of the Skin. Intra-incisional Cleocin for Skin Surgery.
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Huether joined a dermatology practice in
Tuscon, AZ. He has since started his own private practice in the same
area.
W. Joel Cook, M.D. Fellowship - 1996-1997 Medical School - Medical University of South Carolina Currently - Medical University of South Carolina
Research Project: Mohs Micrographic Surgery; A cost Analysis.
Upon
completing his fellowship Dr. Cook returned to the full time faculty at
the Medical University of South Carolina and its Mohs surgery
fellowship training program.
Robert D. Griego, M.D. Fellowship - 1995-1996 Medical School - Baylor College of Medicine Currently - Private Practice - Phoenix, AZ
Research project: Intra-incisional Prophylactic Antibiotics for Dermatologic Surgery
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Griego bought an established Mohs
practice in Phoenix, AZ where he remains in private practice.
Mark F. Baucom, M.D. Fellowship - 1994-1995 Medical School - Emory University Currently - Private Practice - Atlanta, GA
Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Baucom returned to Atlanta, GA to start a private practice.
Timothy L. Parker, M.D. Fellowship - 1993-1994 Medical School - Medical College of Wisconsin Currently - Private Practice - Kansas City, KS

Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Parker opened a private practice in Kansas City, KS.
Robert A. Buzzell, M.D. Fellowship - 1992-1993 Medical School - St. Louis University Currently - Southern Illinois University School of Medicine
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Buzzell returned to Southern Illinois
university to establish a dermatology residency and a Mohs fellowship
program as well.
Christine D. Brown, M.D. Fellowship - 1991-1992 Medical School - University of Texas South Western Currently - Private Practice - Dallas, TX
Research project: Surgical Margins for Primary and Recurrent Melanomas, and Mohs Surgery for Melanoma.
Upon
completing her fellowship, Dr. Brown joined an established dermatology
practice in Dallas, TX before starting her own private practice there.
Michael J. Fazio, M.D. Fellowship - 1990-1991 Medical School - Thomas Jefferson University Currently - Private Practice - Sacramento, CA
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Fazio joined Dr. Jack Sebben (of
electrosurgery fame). He now owns the private practice and is a
fellowship director as well.
David G. Brodland, M.D. Fellowship - 1989-1990 Medical School - Mayo Clinic Currently - Private Practice, Pittsburgh, PA
Research project: Surgical Margins for Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Upon
completing his fellowship, Dr. Brodland returned to Mayo Clinic's full
time faculty for 7 years before moving back to Pittsburgh as a partner
in this private practice, and co-director of this fellowship.
David H. Frankel, M.D. Fellowship - 1988-1989 Medical School - University of Chicago Currently - Private Practice - Brooklyn, NY Upon completing his fellowship, Dr. Frankel worked for a short time in Los Angeles before assuming the role of editor of the Lancet in North America. Currently he is in private practice in Brooklyn, NY.
Ronald L. Moy, M.D. Fellowship - 1987-1988 Medical School - UCLA Currently - Private Practice, Los Angeles, CA
Research project: HPV-16 in Periungual Squamous Cell Carcinoma
In
1987, Dr. Moy was recruited from UCLA to join our faculty at the
University of Pittsburgh, where he officially completed his fellowship
in Mohs surgery. He remained on the faculty and then joined Dr.Zitelli
in his first private practice. Dr. Moy later joined the full time
faculty at UCLA, and now is in private practice in Los Angeles, CA.
Vincent C. Hung, M.D. Fellowship - 1986-1987 Medical School - University of Southern California Currently - Private Practice, Los Angeles, CA
Before
his Mohs fellowship, Dr. Hung had already completed residencies in
Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Dermatology. After
completing his Mohs fellowship he also completed residencies in General
and Plastic Surgery and a fellowship in hand surgery before joining the
faculty USC. He is now in private practice in Los Angeles, CA.
Daniel J. Wolf, M.D. Fellowship - 1985-1986 Medical School-Albert Einstein College of Medicine Currently - Private Practice, Aventura, FL
Research project: Surgical Margins for Basal Cell Carcinoma
Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Wolf returned to the full time faculty of Albert Einstein for a few years. He is now in private practice in Aventura, Fl.
Julia B. Sabetta, M.D. Fellowship - 1984-1985 Medical School - Yale University Currently - Private Practice, Greenwich, CT
Research project: The incidence of Bacteremia during Skin Surgery.
After
completing her fellowship, Dr. Sabetta joined the faculty at the
University of Connecticut, and after a few years left to begin a
private practice in Greenwich, CT.
